Richard “Dick” Eimer, 84, of Solway Township, passed away on April 13, 2024 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital.
Dick was born in Hartford, WI on August 14, 1939 to Melvin Eimer and Evelyn (Swartz) Jenkins. He graduated from Abbotsford High School in ‘59 and joined the Wisconsin National Guard that same year. He served until ‘61 when he transferred into the U.S. Air Force and served until ‘68. During his service he did multiple tours in Vietnam. During this time, he met and married Jane Johnson in Duluth, where he spent the rest of his life. They would have celebrated 60 years together on April 25th.
After his time in the service, Dick worked at Davidson Printing Company as an off set plate maker. He spent much of his free time on lakes all over the northland, fishing from sun-up to sun-down. He took pride in his fish fry’s he held for his family and friends.
Dick had 50+ years of sobriety with the A.A. program, and was very involved with the D.A.V.
Dick is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Jane; and sons, Brian (Kim) of Duluth and Cory (Rin) of Vadnais Heights.
Visitation to be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 30th at Grace Lutheran Church, 5454 Miller Trunk Hwy, with Memorial service at 11:00 AM and reception to follow. He will be interred at Sunrise Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
